5 Super Easy Bento Sandwich Styles!
August 17, 2016
At the core of nearly every lunch box is the trusty sandwich. It's easy, it's tasty and it's simple. It can also get pretty repetitive day after day and you might notice more and more seems to be coming back, or being thrown away at school!
The good news is that there are some brilliant solutions to creating more exciting sandwiches!
Use Cutters!
One of the easiest solutions if your kids don't like crusts! Using a cutter can take your ordinary square or rectangle sandwiches and change them into animals, vehicles or cakes!
The great thing about these cutters is that they can be used for all sorts of soft foods, including cookie dough!
Stamp those Sandwiches!
This is especially good for everyone with younger children or as a way to create smaller snack sized bites! Using a stamp not only downsizes the sandwich to make it easier to eat, it also leaves a fun picture on there as well!
As you can see, they make adorable little bites! Perfect for preschool!
Sushi Wraps
This is one of my favourite ways to make lunch for my boys! It's so easy to do and you don't need any tools to do so!
- All you need are your chosen fillings and some small wraps from your local supermarket.
- Fill up your wrap in layers going from one edge, to the other so the flavors are spread out.
- It's a good idea to practice the wrap to make sure everything is where it's supposed to be.
- Finally once you've wrapped it, you have a choice to make! Either cut it to fit inside the Bento Box, like the lunch above, OR, cut into mini sushi rolls like the one below!
You can also do this with normal sandwich bread!
Sliders!
Nothing too new here, but definitely a welcome change! Instead of having a normal sandwich, look for a big bag of rolls from your supermarket and have sliders instead.
This texture change and added softness is brilliant for kids trying new foods.
Don't forget to keep them pinned down so they don't spill!
Sealed Sandwiches!
Now this one requires a bit more of a DIY approach and can be done at home. It's a great way to see if Bento is for you and your family or not!
The brilliant writers over at parenting.com have a super easy method planned out
